Accessing Medical Services

If your doctor won't take your sleep problems seriously, find another doctor who will. Go armed with facts about sleep (many doctors do not have training in sleep medicine) and consider taking a trusted friend or family member or other advocate along. Do not allow doctors to dismiss your concerns by implying that you have emotional problems. Depression is associated with sleep problems, but cannot responsibly be assumed to be the cause. If you are still experiencing difficulties call one of the sleep centres for advice. Be patient and determined. Getting the proper treatment for your sleep problem can make a world of difference.
